Have you ever heard the word "digital ghost" before? It's a new technology that allows people to talk to dead people by using AI. When you give AI information about someone you really want to talk to, it learns about that person. The AI can mimic the person's voice, thoughts, behaviors, and more, so when you chat with the AI chat-bot, you feel like you're talking to the deceased person.
Around three decades ago, people were more obsessed to create clones. I still remember when Dolly the sheep was born. Since then, some wealthy people tried to create their dead pets' clones.
However, we no longer need to create clones anymore, and instead, we have AI. Clones are eventually going to die, but AI can exist forever. Do you think this is a good idea?
That idea reminded me of one of a drama episode from Black Mirror. In the story, the protagonist loses her boyfriend, and at the same time she figures out she gets pregnant. One day, she finds a company that can create an AI bot based on her deceased boyfriend. She also orders a body for it. She first thinks her boyfriend has come back and she'll be happy again. Even though the AI bot exact looked like him, it can't heal her sense of loss. She starts feeling stress by having it.
I think the idea of digital ghost is fascinating, and I understand the desire to hear the voices of our loved ones and talk to them again. However, if I would do this, I feel like I wouldn't be able to move on. I know that. I would probably remain stuck in the same situation. I don't think that would be healthy.
What do you think?

I've thought about this a lot, long before the rise of AI. Maybe it was this episode that sparked the idea for me. I deliberately don't put much of myself on the internet, because I don't want to become a ghost like this. Have you heard of the second and third deaths? The quote is here: https://eagleman.com/excerpt/ I think it's better to leave the dead in peace.
I'm not really for it, to be honest. Like you said, it may make it even harder to move on, you put yourself in a kind of phantasy. I do understand the need to say "goodbye" for the last time, but I think it usually goes further than that. Also chatting with AI is sort of addicting. I did use an app called "character.ai" for some time, it took quite a lot of my time back then. You can easily forget there's no living person on the other side. By the way, "Black Mirror" is a very cool series, I've also watched it!
I do agree with amie and Renby. Talking to an AI will never be the same as having that person alive. Never. I also don't like AI in general. Reading about all the horrible stories behind AI scares me out.
I think you're right, I believe that we need to learn how to grieve.
So many problems arise from people's fear of death.
@schmamie Thank you for the reading, correcting and commenting. Thank you for the link as well. I'll check it! I'd never thought about a deceased person's side, but I think you're right. I also don't want to end up being like that.
@Renby Yes, it's tough for us to accept the death of our loved ones, but we have to. I know I'll loose my parents sooner or later. Their time is running out. I want to enjoy the moment with them.
I agree that "Black Mirror" is great. It's one of my favorite drama series.
@Double-Zee I think the same way that talking to AI will never be the same as having that person alive. Even so, I like some AI creations, especially films. I don't like creating something with AI needs lots of energy, though.
@MusiqueGraeme Thank you as always for correcting. I agree. We all need to learn how to conquer the sadness and move on.
@BalaGi I think so too. Everybody is scared of death, and me too.
I don't think we need to be afraid of death. It's better to be prepared for life after death and, for me, knowing that God is with me now and will be with me forever means that death is, for all its sadness, a gateway to the new life.
@MusiqueGraeme Thank you for sharing your thought. It sounds great to have a faith!
