A festival was supposed to be held at my neighborhood Shinto shrine tonight. It's a big event around in the area, and many people visit every year. I think especially young children were looking forward to it.
Unfortunately, it rained heavily, and the festival was canceled. Even so, I went there to pray, and I tried to take some pictures in the rain. Since they turned out interesting, I'd like to share them with you.
I always think lanterns glowing in the dark look very mysterious, and I love the atmosphere.
To protect each lantern from the rain, they were covered with vinyl sheets.
It was quite dark, so it might be difficult to see, but there were several food stands.
The main shrine was beautifully illuminated.
