A few days ago, I wrote about my new art project. Here is the post about it. I bought a white teapot from my painting teacher and started working on it.
I designed it with a 16th-century Portuguese ship and the Portuguese people who landed in Japan. It took almost a month to decide on the design, so I was very excited when I finally started drawing. I believed that it would turn out awesome.
However, unfortunately, after the first firing, I discovered a crack around a handle of the pot. I was very shocked. This piece was supposed to be my entry piece for a competition in Kyoto. I had planed on selling it there. Since there is a rule that we can't sell cracked pieces, I have to start over. The problem is that I don't have another good blank porcelain for the competition, and the time is running out. I really need to meet the deadline.
I have to find another piece to paint as soon as possible and think about the new design for it.
I don't like giving up on the cracked teapot, even though I can't sell it at the competition, I'd love to keep working on it. It might break while firing many times, but I know how to fix it with kintsugi, so I'll keep going because I really want to see how it turns out.

Don't give in, Yumi! You can do it on time.
What a shame — it's so beautiful! Was it going to stay black and white, or were you planning to color it?
Oh man, that would be so discouraging! I guess it's better to find out now than after you complete finished it.
@Double-Zee Thank you, ZZ! I'll do my best!
@CocoPop Thank you as always for correcting my posts. I do appreciate a lot. I'll keep working on it. You'll see the result.
@Ersatzjello Yes, that's what I thought when I saw the crack. It's much better discovering it now rather than finding it at the last firing. I would definitely cry!
This was such a beautiful piece of art. What a pity that you can't enter it in the competition.
