We sometimes face to awkward moments, and last week I experienced one on the way back home from the Expo. I was sitting on a train with my husband when it stopped at a station. The door opened, and a young woman was getting in and stood right in front of me. She looked like she might be pregnant but she also just looked a bit chubby.
If it was obvious that she would be pregnant, I definitely would offer my seat to her. However, I was not sure if she was pregnant. If not, it would be extremely rude even though I wouldn't say, "You look fat, young lady." So, I looked down and pretended sleeping.
After we got off the train, I talked about her with my husband. He said he had the same thought and also hesitated to offer his seat.
I'd love to ask you, what would you do in a situation like this?

電車が出発してしばらくしたら、何も言わずに立ってほかの車両に行くかもしれません。
I see. There is no easy answer to such a situation.
Hmmm, if she was not obviously pregnant, she was probably not far along. So standing wouldn't be too hard for her yet. So, she can just stand haha.
By the way - there's a typo in your title - it should be What would you do ...
@Aki_ さん、それ、良いアイデアですね!二人とも帰り道で疲れ果てていたのでそれは思いつきませんでした!できれば、座っていたかったしw
@T-Newfields Thank you, and I agree.
@via-chan Your comment made me think I don't need to blame myself. Thank you!
@MusiqueGraeme Thank you for pointing it out!
I'm very VERY cautious about assuming someone is pregnant because it seems so insulting if you get it wrong. However in this situation, as a healthy male, I might just offer my seat and pass it off as an act of chivalry.
