For a few days I've been planning to make some comments on a ritual that has become quite popular lately--these makeshift funerals you sometimes spot at the seaside, people dispersing the ashes of their loved ones back to the elements at the beach, or in other public spaces, such as parks, forests, etc. (a natural environment is somehow required, it seems). I thought this could bring about some ideas about the place the dead have in our collective imagination, the retreat (?) of some traditional religious notions, and so on. However, after a second thought, I deemed the issue as rather heavy for a weekend, and more so, indeed, on the day with the shortest period of sunlight--we are entering winter here in the Southern hemisphere--so I decided to shift to other, lighter, enjoyable subject. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything right now, so I'll come back later, probably with some translation.
Very few mistakes, but some of the word choice and phrasing is archaic.
Thank you, JG! ;)
I find this topic very enjoyable indeed. All our funeral rituals are mind-blowing.
Interesting topic. My mother's ashes were dispersed in the ocean and I hope the same will happen to my ashes.
