A couple of days ago, a professional Japanese baseball team's coach redesigned because of his domestic violence. He was arrested in front of his daughters. At first, he wanted to stop his daughters' argument, but one of them talked back to him. He became angry and pushed her. She was very shocked and asked an AI chatbot what she should do. The AI suggested that she should contact a Child Consultation Center because it related to child abuse. When the center heard the story from her, it contacted a police department.
Yesterday, the coach hold a press conference and apologized in public. The news spread quickly, and many people were shocked.
When I talked about the news with two friends of mine, one of them told that she's been asking AI for advice all the time. I was surprised because I've never done that before. I'm not sure if AI can give us certain advice.
The mas-media has been broadcasting the news repeatedly, and the daughter explained she didn't expect her father would be arrested because she asked AI for advice. Now, she has been regretting what she'd done. Because of her, her father lost his job.
I think this is only the beginning, and we'll hear more news relate to AI in the future. I was a bit surprised by how many people are asking AI for advice. Do you ask AI for advice?

What a nightmare for that man! I only ask AI for linguistic advice and information, and sometimes health questions. I got a big, dark red splotch on my arm, and I was a little scared because it showed up out of the blue. I submitted a picture of it to ChatGPT, and it told me that because I live in a hot climate and am active outdoors, I got a "purpura" and that it would go away in three days. It did!)))
title: Do You Ask AI for Advice?
I used to ask AI for some minor advise, like an idea for a drawing or something, but I eventually stopped. I don't feel comfortable interacting with it in any way now. I'm not 100% against it, but its growing presence everywhere is just too much for me
I have used AI to create images that I've wanted but not found in a Google search but I wouldn't ask for advice.
There are many problems with asking AI for advice. One of them is that it’s tuned to cater to the user. It will go out of its way to please you. In most scenarios, it will tell you that you’re right and doing the right thing.
Another issue is that the advice is usually very generic. That’s just the nature of how LLMs work: they generate text one token at a time based on probability, often leading to safe, averaged-sounding responses.
Last, but not least, is that AI likes pretending to be human — with generic replies like "I’m here if you need me." I hear more and more about unhealthy emotional dependence on AI, even concerning reports about AI-induced psychosis.
All of these problems can be mitigated with the right prompt, but you need prompt engineering skills — and you must understand that AI is just a tool.
