This time I'm here to share a small personal project I've been working on. I've decided to travel all around the world but, doing so will require a ridiculously large amount of money, which I don't have, so I decided to do it through literature, films and music instead.
My plan is to explore the most representative literary works of each country and listen to their traditional / folklore music. To broaden my perspective, I’ll also look into the most popular songs currently being played there.I'll probably take a whole week on each country's media, films, series... I also thought of trying food recipes but that would require a lot of time. Maybe one day.
I've also started using Slowly, a penpaling app so I can learn even more about the different cultures from people's letters. I know, not everyone will keep in touch, sometimes people will not even read your letters but I believe it’s still worth trying. In fact, I’ve already made a good friend and learned a lot over the past four months. Using it has been quite interesting. If you wanna give it a try, just do it, I recommend it. If you get quite a long letter, it's probably me... sorry.
Why doing this? I'm doing this out of mere curiosity, I also want to escape the routine (escape work xP), look for wonders, discover, understand people's roots, be free in a certain way. I also believe this experience will be enriching for my work.
So this short text is simply an invitation to share any book, film, or movie recommendations from any country that you consider to be indispensable to get to know the culture. You could also try it.
I'll be happy to read you!
Sadly I don't have any recommendations for you from Poland, since I'm not really into any works from here, so I have no clue. I just wanted to say that I love your idea and feel inspired!
Hope to match you in Slowly and receive those long letters!
@Renby no problem, but if you ever get to know any work through someone else I’d like to know about it too. Also, it would be awesome if you ever do something like this. I’d love to know your discoveries and opinions.
