I bought a new loofah today. It cost me 50 pounds. This is almost triple what I paid last time I bought one. Everything is going up, and we're hardly catching up with the high prices. If the price of something so simple like a loofah is insanely going up, imagine how it's the case with appliances.
Loofah is so popularly used in Egypt. Many people use it to clean their bodies during the shower.
For me, loofah is like a toothbrush. You can't brush your teeth only with toothpaste, you have to use a toothbrush. If I have to shower without a loofah, I feel uncomfortable until I have my next shower.
I use it in my daily shower in winter. In summer, I usually have showers more than once. During the quick ones, I use it for specific parts of the body like armpits and between my legs.
How refresh and clean I feel after showering with loofah.
I can't fathom at all how some people shower without a loofah or even any similar materials to brush away all the sweat and dirt from their bodies. Some use only a soap or bodywash while others don't use anything; they just wet their bodies with water and that's all.
Do you use a loofah when you take a shower? If not, what do you use?
Yeah, most of the time and it's called leefلیف here.
I didn't know what a loofah is in English, so thank you for teaching me it! I've grown it at my elementary school and made that once. Even so, I've never used it. They aren't popular in Japan.
Had to look up this word too. I didn't know there was a specific word for it, I would probably just call it a sponge 😂 I've used it a few times. But same, I'm unable to shower without any sort of a sponge, it feels uncomfortable
@Zobayda, Yeah, in Egyptian Arabic we say leefah ليفة.
@yumiyumayume, What do you use it for, then? Also, what do you use for shwoering?
@Renby, glad you learned the word loofah. ;)
I use a shower pouf, which is basically a plastic loofah, and yes — I couldn't imagine showering without it!
Glad to know you're in the same league with us, Uly. :) Thanks a lot for all the corrections!
I use a body towel made by cotton. It's mostly popular both in Japan and Korea. When my British friend came to Japan, he really loved it. He bought a lots of them for his family.
