Black Friday is coming up. It's a yearly opportunity when many people buy what they need, making the most of deals and discounts offered online and offline. Retailers and companies race to make the most profits. Amazon is one of the biggest retailers that makes billions of dollars every year. However, the ugly truth is that these products sold for low prices on Amazon come at high prices paid by workers and entire communities around the world.
This video explains why we all have to take action and boycott Amazon on Black Friday. I understand it might be difficult to find deals as good as the ones on Amazon but think of the cost that comes with:
- Supplying Israel with high-tech services
- Boosting ICE and its deportations against immigrants.
- Exploiting their own workers
- Benefiting from oppression and injustice
- Releasing more carbon emissions than 3/4 countries
Simply, as it was mentioned in the video, Amazon doesn't want only profit. It wants power. Power that's built on the back of workers, immigrants and worldwide communities fighting for their freedom and independence.
It's why I believe we should boycott Amazon around the year, not only on Black Friday. Look for local and ethical alternatives, please. Take a minute to watch the video. I believe after watching it, you'll think twice before purchasing an item on Amazon.
Share it with as many people you know.
Join the pledge “Not a Dime for Genocide” too, please.

Thank you for reminding me of the Amazon Black Friday. I totally forgot it because recently I'd been really busy to complete my piece. I'll check the video you've shared. I probably won't buy anything.
I don't think I've ever bought anything on Amazon and I'm not really interested in Black Friday... too much hype
I knew everything that was said in the video, but I still get so annoyed every time I'm reminded of it.
Smashing everything to pieces doesn't actually help. It's important to find a constructive way to improve things I think...
My bad. I thought people would understand that I didn't actually mean what I said. It was a poor choice of words that didn't reflect my actual feelings. I was annoyed—maybe a bit angry—but certainly not angry enough to smash everything to pieces. I often assume that my comments will be interpreted as intended, but I realize that's not always the case.
I'll edit my original comment.
Thanks, @yumiyumayume for not joining the black Friday!
Neither me, @MusiqueGraeme. Keep going this way!
@Simone-, it's so human to be angry and feel like smashing everything around you. We shouldn't feel bad about the way we feel because this is what motivate us to take the right actions.
DZ, I know 👍. I appreciate your words.
