Not catching a single word when listening to people speak in a foreign language is frustrating. For the last few years, I’ve thought that by the time I could understand Adele, I could safely say my English listening skills had reached a C1 level.
I'm not there yet, but now I’ve found another challenge. She’s a comedian whose sharp, witty sense of humor has me laughing every time I watch her videos. She’s a master of saying things without actually saying them, and she has such a sharp mind—not to mention the eloquence of her silences and the value she gives conciseness in humor. She also makes brilliant use of intonation in her comedy. But... the moment she lets her tongue loose... hold on to your hat. She’s like a bullet train. You might enjoy watching her shows.
Very well written!
I normally don't like crowd work but she was fun. It's a shame the subtitles are so poorly written though...
Thank you, @JenP!
@schmamie It sometimes feels too harsh when comedians roast the audience.
Don’t worry, I just turn off the subtitles. It’s my listening practice. Thank you for letting me know!
I can't help but pay attention to the subtitles when they're written on the screen like that 😅 You're stronger than me when it comes to listening practice haha
