If you get sour strawberries, that's the great opportunity to make jam with them.
A couple weeks ago, I went to a farmer's market to get some strawberries for jam. I picked up 2boxes. They were sold for jam, but they were still fresh enough to eat as they were.
First, you remove the green leafy parts from strawberries and place them in an enamel pan.
Then, you add half the amount of brown sugar compared to strawberries. Let them leave all night.
The following day, the sugar will have melted and mixed with the strawberry juice. Then, you can stir the sugar and strawberry juice with a spatula.
let's the pan on the fire.
I simmer them gently and occasionally skim the foam from the top of the surface.
It's nearly end, but there are two more things you need to add. They are lemon juice and brandy. I added a whole fresh lemon juice and two tablespoons of brandy.
It's done! Does your strawberry jam looks like the one in the picture below?
I love having yogurt with strawberry jam.
The picture below shows a strawberry drink. It's quite simple to make. You mix some milk with the strawberry jam. When you float some mint leaves on top, it'll be perfect!
The last picture shows scones with some strawberry jam.
What’s your favorite way to enjoy homemade strawberry jam?

I’ve never made strawberry jam, but if I did I’d use it on homemade biscuits, pancakes, toast, strawberry shortcake, cottage cheese, ice cream, and definitely use it in peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Strawberry jam's my favourite! I haven't had scones in ages... maybe I should make some. I also love jam with peanut butter.
@SEQ77 Your comment makes me hungry! Thank you for sharing!!
@via-chan Do you make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in Australia as well? That's very interesting because I've thought that was one of American foods.
Yes, it is usually an American thing. We don't call it peanut butter and jelly though, that would get some bad responses haha. In Australia it is jam.
For short, we say PB&J sandwich.
@via-chan Thank you for the response. It's very interesting. Now, I'm curious if people in UK also make the sandwiches.
@SEQ77 Thank you for educating me!
Using brown sugar is a great idea! I've done a quick jam with white sugar, but next time I'll try it with brown.
@via-chan Does "jelly" have a different connotation in Australia? In American English, there is a slight difference between Jam and Jelly. Jam is made with the whole fruit, whereas jelly is made with just the fruit juice.
@Ersatzjello Brown sugar is healthier and I feel it's tastier, so I prefer using it.
@Ersatzjello Yes it does. Jam is the spread, while jelly is for gelatine -- jello I think you guys call it? I don't think we have a difference between jams, I didn't even know the difference between marmalade and jam until Yumi's post lmao.
