Connected Speech

by

I've practiced connected speech in the past to improve my English fluency. I mostly used Alex Thomas’s YouTube channel since I’ve found it to be (!) the best so far. However, I’ve noticed that his lessons aren’t very specific—they don’t go into detail and mainly focus on pattern recognition. Personally, I feel I could improve more if I learned some clear rules, practical advice, or structured ways to use connected speech while maintaining clarity.

Example: X happens because of Y

He also doesn’t seem to consider that his audience has accents, and for non-native speakers, adding connected speech might actually make their speech less clear.

He could also use more real-life examples, such as movie scenes or clips from other people and media personalities.

His lessons don’t stick in my mind. Even when I learn something, I forget it really fast.

Same issues with most of the tutorials on YouTube.
