"Destino" is a short film produced by Disney and written by the Spanish painter Salvador Dali, featuring music by the mexican songwriter Armando Dominguez, performed by the singer Dora Luz. The extremely rich team (In cultural terms) made a beautiful animated masterpiece and changed the conventions of cinema, therefore, it is one of the best animated productions in history.
Walt Disney with his own hands made the storyboard 58 years before the release date in June 2, 2003.
The seven-minutes short film tells us the history about "Chronos" and his dangerous love for a mortal human named "Dahlia". In the film, Dahlia walks and dances around many places inspired in the Dali's paintings. One of the most curious things about the film is that there is no dialogue, and the music, the atmosphere and the corporal expression of Dahlia tell the history.
I saw this film in my 5th semester in university, we saw "Destino" and we extracted the scenes that in our perspective were the best. Moreover, we talked about the film and all its symbolism.
Note: In the next chapter of this series I'm going to be telling you about the meanings and the symbolism of this short film
Hi Rodrigo! Thanks a lot for this suggestion! I just watch the film! :) I am curious to find out how the film is interpreted!
@Linda Did you watch it on Disney + or did you find it as a short on a Disney DVD?
Hi Rodrigo, this is a really cool topic, I'm looking forward to learning more!
Hi @Linda, hi @Tim thanks for your comments! Hey @manakin, thank you so much for your advices and your comments! I'm going to be posting the last part of this serie tomorrow (Maybe hahah)
@Rorro @Linda @tim_trevor and @manakin I am really fascinated by Dalí's work too. And it's really interesting that Rodrigo shared his story about this short movie here in Journaly. I cannot wait to see Rodrigo's next entry on this theme. I would like to add some comments here but felt it might be too long, and at any rate my Spanish writing requires a lot of correction, so share with you my entry on this topic https://journaly.com/post/3880
@LingoBee I just read your post and that's exactly what Dali's pieces means. "Destino" is important because represent an entirely artistic movement expressed by the genius of these amazing surrealists artists.
