English
"I have some bad news: The subjunctive is dying."
"Yaaaaaay!"
"Really? What kind of people are you, cave dwellers? At least show some respect! The subjunctive has been with us for ages, and I'm going to miss it so much. I suggest we show respect and have five minutes of silence. I feel like another species has gone extinct..."
"Don't worry, Professor. Think of it as progress. You're acting like it was an actual living being. If I was you, I'd forget about it. Just let it go."
"I'm not sure about that. If you were me, you wouldn't have to—the subjunctive would've killed itself a long time ago."

Interesting how parts of language change slowly (church sermons, classic tales) while other parts change quickly (slang, popular sayings among the young.)
I've always felt that English tends to be more concise than Spanish. We could never do away with the Spanish subjunctive. I wrote a post to show non-natives just how much we use it. It's nothing like the English subjunctive.
