(can somebody give me an idea?) Eai! how's it going wonderful people? I am here to ask, could somebody help me?
It's been some time I've been learning English with transcripts, this method does work wonders with our Listening, Reading, and writing skills if you know how to use it properly, but (and that's a big but) what can I do about speaking? I talk in English every day with myself, and that has given me incredible speaking skills, the speed I can talk, create sentences and more is freaking good due to talking to myself :) BUT (again, a big but) I am having kind of a hard time to figuring out how I can put the new vocabulary from a transcript into practice, regardless of the amazing 'interview method' by Robin, that's a method to a specific kind of material, and, it's just good to apply after days of studying the chosen transcript, and all the way through this point? how can I really practice those new things regularly in my conversations, is there a way of keeping track of those new words as I speak? due to this lack of practice (with the new vocabulary) I constantly find myself knowing the entire transcript all the way till the end, understanding the once hard video a hundred percent, and everything, but not remembering those new things as I speak, resulting in being talking with the same vocabulary almost every day, that is the only thing really missing in this method, it's like as if I was learning those new words, but not really LEARNING them, could someone help me? what do you guys do? I'd be forever grateful if some of you took the time to share with me a new way of doin' this
(I do not like flashcards that much anymore, so, this is not an option for me right now)
If you always practise what you know then you will get faster at applying the same kind of vocabulary. Maybe in your next blog posts you can try making new sentences with new vocabulary.
The trick is to try using the new vocabulary at least 3 times over 2 weeks, then you will slowly master it. If you know how to use the new vocabulary in writing, naturally it become easier to use in speaking. I hope that helps 😉
For speaking skills, I've always taken classes (at university or conversation courses) or, for the case of Portuguese, I've learned through speaking with my boyfriend (who's a native speaker). I know that not everyone can afford or likes language courses, but I've always enjoyed them just to be able to speak in my foreign languages!
I would also recommend trying to make friends online in the hobbies that you have or to engage in online communities of your hobbies. Good luck! Speaking skills are the hardest to put into practice, I find.
Hello Nori, you may find the following YouTube video helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTWKpNy96EM
I'm not an expert but what I like to do when I learn a new piece of vocab is come up with a few of my own example sentences so that I have thought carefully about how to use it. I think immersion also helps a long way at remembering vocab because it means you hear it so much to the point that you would be able to remember it in a conversation anyway even if you haven't had the opportunity to say it before. Maybe have a vocab book if you don't be already organised into themes. Try to talk about a wide range of topics or write about lots of topics without a dictionary and you will find yourself in trying to remember to the words that you don't quite know yet but you have seen. Everytime you try to recall them you learn them a little bit more. Hope this helps.
My method is rather basic but I find it works well for me. If I've learnt some new words that I want to use in conversation and internalise, I simply write them on a page or post-it and keep it eye level with my computer during an I-talki session. I have to then force my brain to steer the conversation/sentence in a direction where I can use this new vocabulary in a natural way. Although I also find that I use new vocabulary unconsciously in conversation, that is, without having to make a conscious effort. Hope this helps :)

I don’t really have any advice, but I think you are doing great! :)
Hey guys! I found amazing an app called Tandem. In this app I have been able to find friends from tha US and England. You have to spend time searching good people like in real life. But I totally recommend this app to practice your listening, speaking and also writing.
