I want to put English things into our lives so that my son can enjoy English language before learning it; English picture books, toys, and songs.
The night before last, I played Let It Be since I heard that The Beatles songs are good for English beginners.
I’m not sure that my son properly listened to it but he fell asleep easily anyway.
Then, my husband told me that he was surprised that I played the song because he just watched a video introducing how to use “let it be” in everyday life on YouTube.
I think that such coincidences often happen within families.
I wonder if I play The Greatest Showman’s songs in the morning, Disney songs after going home, and The Beatles songs when going to bed.
By doing that, I hope that my son will be familiar with English even a bit.
Can you think of a better word than "things" in the first sentence? "English things" is vague. You might have to add a few more words to describe what you are thinking of rather than just switching out one word. More importantly, the idea of giving your son access to varied materials in English is excellent. How about speaking to your son in English? He may not reply in English but he will quickly understand what you're saying. I used to say お休みなさい to my children and they still remember that phrase forty years later.
The second sentence mentions what those “things” are. I would combine the sentences. Example: I want English picture books, toys, and songs to be in our lives….
@Bennatan Thank you for pointing it out! I’ll use more concrete words than “things” from now on. Also, I really appreciate your suggestion about speaking to children in a foreign language. I’ll do it from tonight!
@SEQ77 Your advice is exactly right! Thank you so much!
@Teten I'm glad it was helpful.
