I have a small vegetable patch in my garden. To prevent soil-borne diseases and other problems caused by planting the same crops repeatedly, I grew shungiku (edible chrysanthemum) over the winter. My husband and I enjoyed its leaves during the colder months and in the spring it produced flowers. It was my first time seeing them, and they were amazingly pretty.
A couple of weeks ago, some seedlings of tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, and green peppers arrived.
I pulled shungiku and planted those seedlings. They are growing bigger every days. I really hope I'll be able to harvest lots of vegetables this summer as well.
A couple of days ago, I spotted a tiny eggplant, several buds of green peppers, and yellow flowers of tomatoes!
