One of the most enjoyable parts of gardening is to eat crops you've grown yourself. There’s a mix of excitement and anticipation, so they taste much better even if they look imperfect and nothing like products you see in supermarkets. They definitely taste special.
When you make something using your own harvests, your homemade food taste much better as well. I think that's why I can't quit gardening.
Last year, I harvested blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries from my garden as well. My husband and I ate most of them fresh, but I froze the rest.
Last month, I made a mixed berry jam using them. Making jam is quite simple. You add sugar and lemon juice and heat the mixture. That's it.
That day, I ate my homemade yogurt with the jam and some nuts, my homemade cookie, and a piece of my homemade cake. They all tasted so good because I made them!
