English
Hi folks!
I’m at a professional crossroads right now and feeling curious about other people's career paths.
What do you do professionally?
Is your job in any way related to languages?
And if so, do you enjoy that connection, or would you rather keep your hobby and your job separate?
P. S. I know that Journaly isn't just another social network, but it's one of the few places where I can find like-minded people—and pick their brains :)

title: What Do You Do For Work?
First of all, let me say your English is excellent! I personally work in the language industry as an editor for a multinational publishing house and a translator/interpreter in my own right. I love it! I love languages, and being able to work in the language industry is an absolutely dream-come-true for me. What do you do, or what are you looking to get into professionally that has you at this crossroads in your career?
@CocoPop Thanks a lot for sharing! That truly sounds like a dream career :)
Oh, I've done so many different things - from finance & analytics to localization & UX Writing. I enjoyed working with language and content, but after moving to Germany, I decided I needed to switch to another area, where being a native speaker isn't a deal-breaker. So recently I've completed an education program as a Digital Learning Developer / Instructional Designer, but I'm starting to wonder if this career switch is really a good fit for me.
I see! I think it was smart of you to look into jobs that don't require you to be a native German speaker. You'll know whether or not it's the right choice for you after a month or two of doing it. I wish you all the best in 2026!
