Language Learning Is My Therapy

Early on in my language learning journey, I found great relief and pleasure in summarizing books that I read in German and English. I primarily used this method to improve my German. Writing and outputting in my target languages helps me not only to improve my languages, but I also found the process itself very therapeutic. It gives me the feeling that Im on my way to mastering the language. That feeling, based on dopamine shooting in my head, arises every time I produce something in my languages. Today I had a difficult day, and reading an article in German about the interaction between nature and nurture, epigenetics and neuroplasticity, and then producing my own piece of writing based on an article made me forget for that time all the troubles that have been disturbing me today. It was a perfect combination. My favorite topic and the pleasure of speaking and writing about it in my target language even on my own. It is valuable therapy for me right now, and Im going to stick to this routine because the benefits outweigh every problem and doubt that arises in my life and in my head.
