The Robbery (Dialogue)

by

— Did you find out what happened last night?

— Yes. Well, kind of.

— So…

— So what?

— Spill it. What else?

— Why are you so interested? It’s no big deal.

— Really? A “no big deal” situation brought four police cars. Big deal or not, it must have been something really big.

— Don't get so suspicious. It was just a fight between neighbors.

— Over what?

— Something about the dogs. Not sure. Those people's dogs are always at each other's throats. Maybe some of their children got scared and ran inside, and then the mother got a bit too upset. You know how moms are sometimes.

— Oh, yeah. Moms call the police all the time because their kids get startled. I don't buy it in the slightest. Spill what really happened!

— Alright, but just let me go to the bathroom first. I've been holding it for so long.

— Okay, I'll go with you. You can tell me meanwhile.

— What? No!

— Why?

— Because I can't talk and do the thing at the same time!

— You can't do two simple things at once?

— Fine. They got robbed.

— Oh, my God! Lock the door!

—See why I didn't want to tell you?

— I'm calling the police right now!

— Yeah, so what are you going to tell them? Hey, there was a robbery in my neighborhood last night. But don't worry, a bunch of cops already dealt with it. Oh, and I'm not nuts.

— Well, that's the truth, isn't it?

— Yes, but it was yesterday, not today.

— Then we need to move again.

— Are you kidding me? No way we're moving again! By no means! We've already moved four times in two years. This time you'll have to drag me out of this house.

— Okay, I'm ready when you are.
