I sense that, because of the disarray that learning French is causing in my brain, this is going to be a checkered strife. My memory seems to have an increasing bent toward the English language, making French feel like an interloper, and that’s no loose analogy. While my French tries to stick, settling for the little space it’s given, my English less so. It’s acting as if a foreigner were wresting what rightfully belongs to it and I were the one betraying. French feels like a weed, feeding off the very roots of my English to do away with it. I don't expect to reap any profits anytime soon.
