I just received the guitar I bought from a secondhand online shop called Mercari. I really like its appearance, sound, and playability, but it's heavier than I expected. I already knew electric guitars are generally heavier than acoustics, but this one is beyond what I had imagined. According to ChatGPT, even guitars of the same model can vary in weight. Maybe that's why the previous owner didn't play it much. Thinking about it now, it was only natural that buying a guitar online wasn't a good idea. I was too lazy.
After playing it a little, though, it's actually started to grow on me. Still, I'm planning to sell it and go guitar hunting in Ochanomizu β the town where you can find the largest selection of guitars in Japan. I've always been interested in playing the electric guitar, and one great thing is that you can play them even at night. Since electric guitars have solid bodies, their unamplified sound is very low. I already have plans for next weekend, so I'll probably go guitar shopping two weeks from now.
Just in case, I'll keep this one until I find a better and lighter one, but I'll have to avoid playing it so I don't get even more attached. It's not so easy, though.
Great post! So few mistakes. Yeah, I couldn't imagine buying an instrument online. You really have to hold it and feel it. I'm a violinist, and violins are even more sensitive than guitars. I'd never buy one blind. Good luck!
Thank you, Uly! You play the violin? That's so cool! I'd love to hear you play sometime.
The reason I bought my guitar on Mercari isn't just because it was easy β it's also cheaper if the guitars are of the same grade. And I suddenly got this huge urge to play the electric guitar, so I couldn't wait until I could go to Ochanomizu. However, as you said, you really shouldn't buy an instrument online. They have lives of their own, so to speak.
Absolutely true!

For some reason I thought of this video when you said they are really quiet. Tabuchi Hisako playing ιζε°ε₯³ in a closet! lol but at around 1:00 mark it cuts to outside the closet and its super quiet and sounds kinda nice. I was watching some videos on Tabuchi Hisako, and isn't she so cool!!! How can she play that fast???? γγγ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaihT48EimE
@via-chan Tabuchi Hisako is one of the greatest guitarists in Japan! So cool! Thank you for sharing! I usually don't hear the unamplified sound because I'm monitoring with my headphones like her, but definitely it fascinates us.
