Have you ever chased your dram to try to come it true? This is a story about a girl.
She doesn't remember when she first started drawing, but she always loved doing it. She especially enjoyed drawing with her mother. Her mother encouraged her, and the two of them had fun creating art together. Her fast painting teacher was her mother even though the mother had never taken any art lessons. By the time she entered kindergarten, she was already good at it.
Once she painted a mother horse and a foal and showed it to her kindergarten teacher. Her teacher gave her a big compliment when she saw it. The teacher told her, "You should become an artist someday. Your painting looks so great!" She believed what her teacher said and since then being an artist had become her dream.
When she was a fourth grade, she met an art teacher at her school. Her art teacher entered her paintings to many competitions, and she started collecting awards. Every time she won, both her parents were glad and kept encouraging her. She often told them, "In the future, I want to become an artist." Her father frequently took her to various art exhibitions, and since then visiting art shows has been her lifelong hobby.
She entered a middle school and had to choose club activity. She wanted to join the tennis club, but she also wanted to learn painting more. Back then, students couldn't do both. Fortunately, her homeroom teacher in her first grade was an art teacher, so she asked him what she should do. He told her that she could take art classes while still joining the tennis club. Then, she followed his advice. She got some awards even though she wasn't a member of the painting club.
When she turned a senior grade, she had to choose a high school. She wanted to go to a school with an art course and believed that her parents would support her. However, all the sudden, both her parents disagreed with her. They said, "No, you can't! How will you make a living after graduating from an art academy? Do you know how hard it is to survive by selling your art? You should go to a regular high school." She was shocked and felt her heart broken. Even so, she was naturally optimistic and thought, "Okay. Maybe after graduating from high school, I might be able to go to an art college."
She entered one of the top leveled high school in her area, and it made her parents very happy. However, she didn't take any art classes, and instead she took music classes because they didn't assign any homework. She had been very busy with studying and the tennis club activity. Eventually, she forgot her dream. She sometimes felt like painting but didn't pick up a bush again. She ended up entering a university to major in chemistry. She completely gave up her dream.
She met a guy who was six years older when she was twenty two years old. They started dating, and she got married him after graduating from college. At that time, he lived in Kyushu for work, so she moved there. Since she didn't work and have any children yet, she had plenty of free time. This reminded her of painting. When she was much younger, she really wanted to become an artist. One day, she told her husband, "I want to learn how to paint."
This was how she started painting again. That was how she begun chasing her dream once more. At that time, she had no idea how long the journey would take.......

I wish I knew what I wanted to be when I was a child. Still as an adult, I don't know what I want to be. :)
Is that your personal story, Yumi? You wanted to be an artist and your family disagreed with it?
