I'm too tired to write in Spanish today because I had to walk about 3 hours a day this week. I didn't have enough sleep as well. So, my brain and body need some rest.
When I woke up today the ground was full of fallen leaves and little twigs. The whole scene reminded me of hiragana because two twigs had fallen over each other and looked like the character a. So, the first thing in my mind was to practice writing some hiragana with the twigs.
I started reminding the letters one by one but I didn't know their names. Then, I filmed it, of course, not so professionally, but as a reminder of the fun I had with the fallen leaves In this lovely morning.
I'm so motivated to keep learning Spanish, but it's a shame I've forgotten so much grammar and vocabulary. I've also never been good at using formal language. I mean things like I don't know how to say, " have a good day" to a person in formal Spanish. I also can't pronounce c,z the /th/ way and that's why not only I sound unnatural but weird.
Why would I tell my professor that I'm at a B1 level while I still use ser and estar interchangeably?! Now they're expecting me to be better and I'm stressed out since I'm not good enough.
It's okay, Zobayda. You have time to improve. Don't be harsh on yourself.
I don't need much Spanish this year. I do my best not to think about it. 😊
You're not alone. The struggle, lack of motivation and regrets are all part of the journey. I recently dropped German for the fourth time😆!
I've dropped German too, but I don't want to lose it. I've spent lots of my time on it. How did you get back to it each time? Had you forgotten a lot?
Now that I think about it, I'm no longer sure how many times I actually gave up on German. Each time I went back to it, I approached it differently. Some people might find it absurd, but I think there's a staggering lack of CI content in German.
In terms of memory retention, there wasn't much to forget in the first place 😅. Nevertheless, once you've cemented something into your long-term memory, it'll remain there forever. Of course, it'll need some dusting off, but that's about it.
