- Hi, bug. Already working?
- Could you please announce your presence before walking in so that you don't scare me?
- Did I scare you? How's that even possible? I've been whistling all the way here. Did you have your earbuds in?
- No. Are you fully aware of the conventions we use at home and the dangers that ignoring them entails?
- Did you drink the water from the vase? You sound weird as hell.
- No, it actually was an herbal tea that tasted like a May morning.
- Alright, you're asking for it. May I morning you?
- Not in the mood, thanks. I need to finish this before noon. Can you get me something to eat instead?
- Okay, so... I'm announcing that I'm leaving this room now and heading for the kitchen. The Queen is having breakfast.
- You're so silly...and don't throw sugar in my butter.
- Coming right up!
I was confused by this. Sometimes we call humans we dislike "bugs" so I could not formulate one clear image.
"Hey, bug" is actually the opposite. It's a sweet way to call someone in your family. It can be your partner or your kid.
