Today, on my way back from my parents' house, I saw some red spider lilies. They usually bloom at the end of summer, but even though it's already October, they were still in full bloom.
When I was a kid, I often saw them pathways that run between rice fields. I was taught not touch them by my parents because they are poisonous. They looked rather creepy without any leaves. Since I'm not very fond of red flowers, I'd never seem them carefully.
They are called manjyushage (曼珠沙華) in Japanese, which came from Sanskrit. It means "red flower". This is the only one that I don't like flowers themselves, yet I like the name, especially the ways its written in kanji (one of Japanese characters).

They sure are creepy😲!
Here in Shizuoka many are in full bloom. My wife doesn't like them, but I find there curiously beautiful: they add rich color to the green scenery.
@Simone- Thank you for reading, and commenting! I'm glad for you they look creepy too! I can't come to like them at all.
@T-Newfields Do you have these in the US? It might be lovely in a group. I try to find the group of them.
