Two of my blackberry bushes produced some fruit this year as well. They've grown larger, so their fruit also became bigger than last year. I'm quite happy with them!
Since I took some pictures, I'd love to share them with you. In the spring, when I came across some buds, I was very excited.
Their flowers bloomed after my roses, so I didn't need to worry about pollination. A lots of bees which were attracted by my pretty roses came to my garden and helped pollinate the blackberries too .
It was fascinating to watch the flowers turned into fruit.
In May the baby fruit had started growing bigger.
They looked like red beads.
Gradually, they grew much larger and eventually turned black.
Since the berries are quite tart, I'd love to make jam with my other homemade berries. In the future, I want to bake sweets using them. So, I have to take care of them growing larger and heather. I also want to make more plants to use their runners. This year, I successfully got two more. In total, I have four bushes now. Although I've planted one in a pot, it's getting much larger and the pot is getting too small, so I have to replant it. It's fun to think about how to balance quality and quantity in fruit production. I'll do my best to harvest even more fruit next year!

Where I live, blackberry bushes are pests and grow literally everywhere! Usually on the side of the road, so in summer lots of people just park on the side of the road and pick the wild ones instead of having them in their gardens.
Same here, @via-chan ! I used to pick the blackberries on my way to school.
Thank you for reading, correcting and commenting, @via-chan and @schmamie. I know in the UK blackberries are everywhere. Last year, while visiting my British friend, I figured it out. However, I didn't know that Australia too. Thank you for sharing! In Japan we can't get the fruit at shops because the different reason you have. They are definitely unpopular fruit. If we want, we need to grow.
Do you make crumbles too? I miss my friend's homemade one! You can read my experience here: https://journaly.com/post/41249
Oh wow, thank you for sharing! We have lots of raspberries here that grow wild, but I've never seen wild blackberries (or honestly cultivated blackberries either!)
@Shauna Your comment is very interesting to me because both Australia and Canada connect to the UK. One country is the same, but the other is not. I also didn't know that you have lots of wild raspberries. Raspberries are also unpopular fruit in Japan and if we want, we need to grow on our own.
