I know you've been lying today. Don’t lie to me — your face and the butt print on the sofa totally give you away. Is that why there are so many things lying around? It's so like you to blame me, but I've been laying bricks all day, so at least lay your joystick on the table and listen to me. I think it’s time we lay our cards on the table and talk about what’s really going on.
Lying down on the dog bed all day is not okay. You need to do something while I'm out. Need some ideas? How about laying traps for the cockroaches? They've been laying eggs all around the house. Need more ideas? Don't lay your dirty dishes on the counter. Put them in the sink, and if you need to lie down for a while, do it on the sofa—let the poor dog lie on his bed.
I get these two mixed up all the time! I just read an explanation, and I still don't know which one to use. Of course, the 'lie' that means 'not the truth' is easy to get right.
@schmamie That's reassuring, lol. I've gone over these three verbs so many times that I've lost count. Thanks so much!
