Homemade Starawberry Clafoutis

Today, I'd love to share a French dessert called Clafoutis, which I made with my homegrown strawberries.

Since homegrown vegetables or fruits are unpredictable how much we can harvest, I tend to freeze them for future use in cooking. Since I posted an entry about my homegrown strawberries, I've been collecting them in my freezer. I finally used them for my homemade clafoutis. I love cooking with my homegrown crops. I truly believe that it definitely makes everything taste even better.

Preparation:

Coat the container with butter. After that, sprinkle a tablespoon of sugar over it.

Ingredients:

150g strawberries

60g brown sugar

20g cake flour

15g cone-starch

100ml milk

     100ml heavy milk

2 eggs

2 teaspoons of kirsch (optional)

Instructions:

In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, cake flour, and cornstarch.

Place strawberries in another bowl, and add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of kirsch (optional).

Place milk and fresh milk in a small pan and heat it. Turn off the heat before it starts boil.

Pour the warm milk mixture into the other dried mixture (brown sugar, flour and cone-starch) little by little and stir it.

Then, add two eggs one by one. Stir it again, and mix well after the addition.

While Straining the mixture with a strainer, pour it into the container.

Arrange the strawberries on the top.

Baking:

Bake it at 180℃ (356°F) for 35 minutes.

We can enjoy two ways of this dessert: one cold (chill) and the other hot (warm). I ate the hot version with my homemade yogurt with my homemade marmalade. Everything was homemade, so they were absolutely perfect!

If you get the strawberries, which are too tart to eat fresh or a bit overripe, this is a great way to use those.

Happy baking!
