My Homegrown Red Onions

Every year I grow red onions, and just a few days ago, I've started harvesting this year's crop. I’m happy to see that they’ve turned out much bigger than last year’s!

Red onions are rich in anthocyaninhs, and that's why I try to get them through foods such as blueberries, red cabbages, eggplants, and these red onions. That's the reason I grow them every single year. I especially prefer growing organic ones.

The picture below shows some tiny baby red onions. I bought these baby onions last November.

I made some weakly alkaline soil which is around PH 6 and planted six of them in six separated planters. The picture below shows one of those planters.

They were growing slowly during winter.

They grew faster when the weather warmed up. At the same time, the weeds begun started growing as well.

We can see red onions in our eyes clearly in the picture below but we still need a little bit patience to pull them.

Compared to the picture above, the onions in the picture below have grown larger.

The onion in the picture below is ready to pull!

It took six months to harvest some of them, but I'm satisfied the result! Hearvesting moment is the most exciting moment because I can finally see my efforts. When I look at the onions beautifully grow, it'll pay all my efforts off. I still have five more planters fill with onions left to harvest.

I love using them for my homemade salads. I'll definitely grow them next year as well.
