My Very First Time Motorcycle Touring with My Husband

I still remember how upset I was when my husband got a motorcycle license without letting me know last year. I even wrote about it here.

Then, I figured out he bought another bike, and I was even more upset. At that time, I didn't know that how large it was. You can read the journal entry here as well. Gradually, I noticed that he bought a 1300cc bike. The picture below shows his motorcycle.

At first, I was still against him riding on his motorcycles, but recently he asked me to go to motorcycle touring with him. He tried to persuade me to ride with him, and he eventually changed my mind because I love challenging new things. A couple days ago, we practiced riding together for the first time.

Before dating with my husband, I had a boyfriend who used to ride on a motorcycle, but his bike was only 250cc and not large like my husband's. So, this was my first time to ride even on a motorcycle in over nearly forty years. I never thought I would do it again.

It was a very sunny and perfect day for riding on a motorcycle. We went to a new landmark spot in our neighbor city. Recently, the city opened a new park called dampark Ibakita, which features the longest suspension bridge in Japan.

Even thought the park opened a couple weeks ago, it was already crowed.

You can see the longest bridge over there in the picture below.

I really wanted to walk across the bridge, but unfortunately, my husband had planed to play tennis with his friends, and I wanted to chat with my friend from Texas on Skype, so we gave it up. Since my husband is a little bit acrophobic, he wasn't as interested as I was. I absolutely want to go back there to try it next time.

Instead of walking across it, we shared a soda and vanilla flavored soft-served ice cream .

Then, three days later, we practiced riding on his motorcycle again. This time we headed to the valley where we enjoyed viewing cherry blossoms with my parents a month ago. That's because I wanted to see the wisteria trellis there.

Unfortunately, we were about a week too late for the wisteria and missed its peak. You can see how the trellis looked like in the picture below. Since I had a high expectation, I was very disappointed when I saw the condition.

While walking around, I spotted aother trellis. This one also had already passed its peak.

When we visited there before, the scenery had been just breathtaking, filled with cherry blossoms, but now they were all gone. If you are interested in the cherry blossoms, you can see them here.

Instead of the cherry blossoms, we saw pink azaleas in full bloom.

Next time, we're planning on going to a little bit farther place like two-hour ride. I remembered how fun it was! I used to love the speed and the feeling of the wind. I now understand why my husband wanted to ride on it.
