My Favorite Thai Restaurant in Osaka

Today, I'd like to take you to my favorite Thai restaurant in Osaka.

First, we board a JR train bound for Osaka.

The picture below shows the ticket gates. I'm sure they look different in every country, but this is what JR train ticket gates look like in Japan. You can use a ticket or a transportation pass. Many people prefer a pass because it saves time. You don't need to buy a ticket every time you take a train. It's much more convenient.

The next picture shows the platform. My nearest JR station has a platform gate to keep passengers safe from non-stop trains.

When you hear the announcement for "Osaka", it's time to get off the train.

JR Osaka station has lots of exits, and if you want to go to my favorite restaurant, you'll need to exit from sakurabashi guchi (桜橋口).

The picture below shows the Umeda area at night. You can see the official flag for Osaka World Expo 2025.

Since my favorite restaurant is inside of HERBIS PLAZA, you'll need to look around a bit to find it. It's very close to the JR Osaka station, and I don't think you'll miss it.

The picture below shows HERBIS PLAZA.

When my husband and I got there, the musical "Wicked" was playing.

Here we are! My favorite Thai restaurant, Koh Samui by Chedi Luang is located on the third floor. ( We use the American way of numbering floors) I've been to Thailand twice and experienced their authentic food, but I honestly prefer here even though the dishes are slightly adjusted to suit Japanese tastes. My husband and I had dinner, but at lunchtime, they only serve a buffet. If you’ve never had Thai food before, I recommend you to go there for lunch. You can try a variety of dishes and it costs less than ¥2,000.

That day, my husband and I ordered The Thai style of hot pot. Before the pot, we had some appetizers.

The picture below is one of my favorite dishes. It's soft shell crab and extremely good! I highly recommend this to you.

The hot pot came with two different broths: one was tom yum kung, and the other was a fish-based broth. We cooked vegetables, meat and rice noodles in the broth to make our own hot pot.

The picture below shows different kinds of spices. You can customize the flavor to add these.

The last dish was another one of my favorites, Pad Thai. Every time I have it, I think of my American friend in Michigan. She and I used to have Pad Thai every time I visited her.

The very last picture shows dessert, coconut milk and a piece of cake.

Writing this journal entry is making me hungry! So, I'd love to go back again soon to have lunch this time!
