The Famous Gulf of America

by

Dear reader, please don't take this post seriously. I'd expect you, a language enthusiast like myself, to be able to appreciate sarcasm.

There I am, catching up on the day's news, when who should catch my attention but none other than our beloved Mr President of the World, Donald Trump!

Where should I start first? Well, to begin with, he's officially renamed the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America. Now that's what I call constructive revisionism! I mean, it's a no-brainer. From an American point of view, it only makes sense to call it the Gulf of America, doesn't it? I. said. DOESN'T IT?! I wonder why he didn't rename Canada too while he was at it. I hope the Italian government follows suit and renames France accordingly.

Let's move on to the second point that caught my attention. Denmark has announced a 2-billion-euro plan to strengthen its military presence in the Arctic, i.e. Greenland and the Faroe Islands. According to the Danish Ministry of Defence, the threat level in the Arctic has increased significantly, promping the state to take the necessary measures. STUPID DANES! Don't they understand that it's in everyone's interest for Greenland to come under American jurisdiction and protection? And what do they think they're doing increasing their military power? Surely the mighty American army—which has never lost a war—could wipe them out in the blink of an eye. The very fact that they think they stand a chance is ridiculous.

When Trump says that protecting Greenland is a matter of freedom for the whole world, I believe him. When he says that the USA cares about the freedom of the world, I believe him. When he says that the citizens of Greenland want to join the Union, I believe him.

Finally, the third point: he wants to raise custom duties on Taiwanese semiconductors (chips) by 100%. That's exactly what a friend of mine and I said a few days ago. We should definitely cut off the main driver of Taiwan's economy. Who cares if Taiwan is the world's leading manufacturer of advanced chips. If Taiwan becomes poorer, China will lose interest in invading it. How generous of Trump!

Thanks for reading my post!
