It's apple season here, and I look forward to making apple cakes every year. Today, I'm pleased to share my recipe for an apple cake.
Since I don't like whipped cream, my homemade cakes are quite simple.
Preparation:
Cut an apple into 8 wedges. Set aside 2 wedges and chop them into small cubes (about 1 cm). Sprinkle cinnamon powder and sugar over the left 6 wedges.
Instractions:
Mix butter with brown sugar. I recommend using a hand mixer in this step.
Add the eggs one at a time once the butter and sugar become pale and fluffy.
Add cake flour and baking powder when the mixture looks creamy.
Use a rubber spatula and mix the dough with sour cream.
Add the diced apple in the dough.
Baking:
Pour the dough into a cake mold (⌀15cm) and arrange the 6 apple wedges on the top.
Bake it at 180 ℃ (350°F) around for one hour.
When you open the oven, the wonderful aroma of cinnamon and apples will fill the air. It makes me feel very happy every time.
This cake is one of my favorites. It's delicious both warm and chilled, so you can enjoy it however you like!
Ingredients:
1 apple
80g unsalted butter
120g brown sugar
2 eggs
130g cake flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
90g sour cream
Cinnamon powder and sugar (for the 6 apple wedges)

It looks yummy, Yumi! Is there an alternative to the sour cream?
I will try making this at the weekend.
Good morning, @Double-Zee ! Thank you for asking because it's hard for me to get sour cream too. I always use heavy cream. When you add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice in it and mix these, it turns sour cream. Enjoy baking!!
Hello, @t4up3 I hope you like it! Thank you for the corrections too!!
Is heavy cream the same as whipping cream?
In this article, Greek yogurt was mentioned as a substitute to sour cream. Have you tried it before? https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/sour-cream-substitutes#non-dairy-alternatives
Hi, @Double-Zee Yes, heavy cream is whipping cream. I've never used Greek yogurt, but when you use it, please let me know.
Hi, Yumi! Thank you!
I hope I will be able to make it soon and then I will update you whether or not the Greek yogurt works. :)
Have a great day!
