On the Fly

I like to think that having had a difficult life has made me really strong and resilient. Dodging blows has been a constant in my life, but if I've learned anything from it, it’s that giving up after the first try is not an option, and that consistency is key to get what you want. Many people say I'm a pain in the ass, but I prefer to think that I'm persistent and tenacious by nature, even though my courage has almost cost me my life on a few occasions.

Of course I've got scars, both on my body and my soul, but to me they’re nothing more than a map of the places I've been and the imprint of what I've learned in each of them.

My life, though lonely and austere, has been worthwhile. Mind you, I've always taken every single chance to nosedive into the pleasures of life. That's why I don't complain. That, coupled with the fact that wallowing in self-pity is not my thing.

To be fair, I should talk about my flaws, of which I have plenty. I'm annoying, loud, and although they say I'm ugly, I, for one, think they're exaggerating a bit. I also buzz with excitement whenever there's something sweet in sight. I have an extreme sweet tooth, so I go all out when the opportunity to satisfy it presents itself — it’s second nature. But, what the heck? I'm a fly! It's what we flies are best at.
