Jorge Manrique (1440-1479) is a Castilian poet and one of the most important authors in the creation of courtly lyric poetry in the 15th century.
Remember the sleeping soul,
awaken your mind and wake up
contemplating
how life goes by,
how death comes
so quietly;
how quickly pleasure departs;
how after it is agreed
it gives pain;
how in our eyes
any time past
was better

cualquier tiempo pasado fue mejor No sabía que la famosísima expresión viene de este poema. Nada menos que del siglo XV. Manrique se sorprendería si supiera lo mucho que ha dado de sí su poema a lo latgo de la historia...
Las tengo por leer. Solo leí un poco y me recordaron de Longfellow no sé por qué, y pronto descubrí que fue Longfellow que las habia traducido.
