I got this beautiful book from my mom as last year's Christmas present. As she knows that I read books almost exclusively in foreign languages, she chose to buy it in English. The book was originally written in Spanish, so I'm thinking about reading it again in Spanish.
The book centers around the concept of ikigai and delves into different aspects of Japanese culture and what people who live long lives do differently.
Ikigai is a Japanese concept that roughly translates as "the happiness of always being busy" and can be seen as an answer to the question What is the purpose of life?
Ikigai unites mission, passion, profession and vocation. In Japanese culture, it is believed that every single one of us has an ikigai - a reason to leave the coziness of our bed every morning.
What an interesting and encouraging concept!
Wonderful post, Linda! Wow, I’ve been seeing this book in shops for years but I actually didn’t know this book was originally written in Spanish! I also love that simple way of putting it: every single one of us has a reason to leave the coziness of our bed every morning. ☺️
