A Walk in the Wintery Woods

Today is a nice sunny day, so I decided to take a walk in the woods. The crisp snow crunches pleasantly under my feet. The forest stands in complete silence. Just then, I hear a titmouse chirping and a woodpecker drumming somewhere.

The forest seems absolutely lifeless in the winter, except for some birds you may hear or see, but it is not so. On the white surface of the snow, we can see what animals and birds were doing last night or in the morning.

Here we see a chain of a fox’s footprints on the edge of the forest. Perhaps the fox was looking for something to eat. Some meters away, there are the prints of a mountain hare. The hare seems to have smelled the fox and decided to run away and escape danger.

If we're very attentive, we might also see the pieces of pine cone in the snow. They’re remnants of a squirrel’s breakfast.

It’s getting dark. Time to go back home. It’s always nice to sit in a warm dining room with a cup of hot tea in my hands and recall walks in the snowy, frosty forest.
