Sometimes, people romanticize the past. "How great that specific time was." In Brazil, we have a good story about our independence. For a long time, people thought that D. Pedro(I) rode in on his horse and proclaimed independence. However, in reality, he was suffering from diarrhea and he even wore his ceremonial clothes on that specific day. He just signed the letter and his messenger delivered the document. We have a painting made by Pedro Américo trying to show how glorious that day was. Not exactly glorious, however human. It was a serious occasion, but in real life people get sick. Sometimes the past is just the past.
