Hey everybody, I want to share with you a couple things about my language learning, I'm going to make a kind of "update" all the vocabulary that I've acquired up to this point. So without further ado, here's my first post after several months. Enjoy it!
So far this year, I've spent 450 hours on language learning. Now at this stage, I'm starting to realize how much I need a conversation partner in order to improve my communication skills, not only so that I can work more effectively, but also more efficiently. So a couple months ago, I started teaching my brother some different methods for improving his language learning abilities, so that I would thus finally get the conversation partner that I'd been needing. The problem here is that my brother just isn't as engaged in his language learning as I am, and he tends to waste his time instead of studying for a while. The fact that he has a person who is trying hard to help him in his language learning and he just plays videogames all day long is frustrating. If I had had someone who had stuck with me all day in my language learning, I probably would have advanced quicker in my language learning. Judging from my brother's attitude, I have to conclude that he doesn't want to learn, and the discouraging thing here is that he needs to learn, because he wants to be an actor and work in the states. I'm quite sad about it because although I want to start helping him in the language learning, it's like if he can't see all the things that he's losing.
Now, I don't want to be the bad guy here so what I've been doing lately is just giving him advice only when he ask me about something (which is almost never), and about my conversation partner, I'm still looking for someone who wants to help me in my conversational skills and also someone who needs help in their Spanish. I've used a couple of apps to meet up with people for learning languages, but that isn't the same as having a regular contact with someone on whom you can rely on, and furthermore, support each other in language learning.
If you've been looking for someone who can help you with your Spanish and you can help me with my English, I'm going to share my Instagram contact bellow so then you'll be able to text me and we can help each other.
Let's talk!

Hi Rodrigo! I completely understand your frustration! I have a similar relationship with my sister but I've accepted that I'm never going to convince her to be on the same level as me for language learning. She's labeled it as "my thing" and it's kind of the same for if I were to become her running partner, I definitely would never get as into it as she is even though it WOULD be good for my health. For your brother's case, I'd challenge him to play one of his favourite video games in English! That way he's learning words, seeing them in context and already knows the story! I also am a big fan of video games and I often lose precious study time because I'm playing video games hehehehe.
Anyway, if I were learning Spanish, I would love to take you up on your offer, but unfortunately I'm focusing on my Portuguese right now and whenever I try to learn Portuguese and Spanish at the same time, I just mix them up in a way that's harmful for both languages! Hahaha
Spanish is a really sought after language though, so I'm sure you'll find an excellent language partner! Good luck!!
( @FocaFofa ) Emily, hi! Yeah, it's something that is up to them. The only thing to do right there it's just help them whenever they need our help in their language learning (If a miracle just so happens and they decide to begin learning a language hahahaha), and sooner or later (mostly later) they're gonna need our help hehehe
And thanks for your advice! I'm gonna tell him to try it
Hahahahah yes, it's awful! I have a cousin in Sao Paulo and when he started learning Portuguese (he's a Spanish native speaker) he mix the languages up and now he speaks a perfect "Portuñol" hahahahah
And yeah, I hope so! Thank you so much for your comments, all your advices and definitely thanks for your good vibes!
Good luck with your Portuguese!
Hola~🐢 I have the same problem with my little sister. The only thing that she does is playing video games and scrolling Tiktok( bad app, never download, I've never managed to go away from it till the night jaja)I have only one friend of mine who has started STUDYING English but she's so scared off speaking, so I'm in the same boat as you ;)
All the best to you in your language journey! :^) Btw, is there any English club in your city? perhaps, there is, and it's gratuito :0
( @Allen ) Hey Allen! Absolutely, I agree with you hahahaha
Well, actually there isn't any English club in my city, but you know what? I think that I can create the first one! :0
Hahaha Thanks for your comments, and good luck with your learning!!!
@Rodrigo wow, fingers crossed you'll do it (as for an English club :)))
