Yesterday I realised something that hadn't come to my mind for a very long time. It happened when I started to read Stephen King's novel called 'The Stand', which was given to me by my Secret Santa from work. The fact that the last year was so busy to me and my work schedule was pretty tight is the reason why I rarely read and almost forgot how pleasant it is. It is such a miracle when you find the solutions for your own problems from books, for some difficult questions that burden you and leave you unsatisfied.
I have to admit that yesterday I was also reminded how much I love Stephen King. His books are usually like a therapy for me. I almost can see how warm they are, how wisely the writer creates his characters and they relationships, even if he writes about quite scary things.
I haven't made much time for reading lately, as my life has been so busy - your post reminded my why I should though! I get the same sort of experience from listening to some music sometimes, albeit in less depth.
Reading is an excellent way to relax, to learn and to grow, and, of course, to practice a language! What is "The Stand" about? The only Stephen King book I've read is "Carrie," it was quite scary but very good.
This is a good reminder. I tend to read non-fiction, but there's something special about immersing yourself in a fictional world.
@pithyquibbles, 'The Stand' is a post-apocalyptic novel. I haven't figure out if it is a fantasy or scifi. The main theme of the book can seem a bit sensitive, because it's about a pandemic, but the plot is gripping! I hope that today I'll find an hour to continue reading it.
@pithyquibbles, Thank you for all your corrections! I didn't expect so much help :)
@NatureJulie, Totally agree. The reading for me is both a way to restore my energy and to learn smth new. Thanks for all your help with my post!
@emily, I understand you about music, I can hardly imagine my life without it! :) And thank you for helping me to fix my writing!
