Today I will try to do a transcription of the TV series Fresh Prince of Bel Air's Theme Song. Some parts were really difficult to understand, especially when he talks about places and people's names. But at least I could understand the context and what he was talking about.
Now this is a story all about how
my life got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became a prince of a town called Bel-Air
In West Vill(?) I born and raised
On the playground is where I spend most of my days
[?]chill, relaxing with some people outside of the school
When a couple of guys who we're up to no good
Started to making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
and say "You move in with your aunt and uncle in Bel-Air"
I beg and pleaded with her day after day,
She packed my suitcases and sent me on my way,
she gave me a kiss and she gave me my ticket,
I put my walkman on (?)
First-class show this is bad,
drink orange juice soda with champagne glass
Is this what the people of Bel-Air living like? Hum...
This might be all right.
I whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said "Fresh" and it had a dice in the mirror
Anything I can say this cab was rare
But thought, man I forget it, home to Bel-Air
I pulled up to the house about seven or eight
and yell to the cab "See you Later"
Look at my kingdom, I was finally there
to sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-Air.
Hi brubs! I found the lyrics. Here it is. In West Philadelphia born and raised On the playground is where I spent most of my days Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school When a couple of guys, who we're up to no good Started making trouble in my neighbourhood I got in one little fight and my mom got scared And said, you're moving with your aunty and uncle in Bel-Air I begged and pleaded with her day after day But she packed my suitcase and sent me on my way She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket I put my walkman on and said, I might as well kick it First class, yo this is bad Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass Is this what the people of Bel-Air are livin' like? Hmm, this might be alright I whistled for a cab and when it came near The license plate said fresh, and had a dice in the mirror If anything I could say that this cab was rare But I thought, nah, forget it, yo holmes to Bel-Air I pulled up to a house about seven or eight And I yelled to the cabby yo, holmes smell you later Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel-Air Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Jeffrey Townes / Will Smith The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air lyrics © Universal Music - Z Tunes Llc, Zomba Enterprises Inc., Jazzy Jeff And Fresh Prince Publishing C, Jazzy Jeff And Fresh Prince Publ. Such a great way to learn! Rhythm, rhyme, cultural references, and fun all in one go. You got most of the transcript dead on, as well.
This made me laugh - brilliant job and a very fun exercise!
I’m impressed! Great job
