Dia daiobh a chairde! Rhys is ainm dom agus tá mé ag foghlaim Gaeilge :) Is maith liom a bheith ag éisteacht le ceoil, ag canadh agus ag seinm ceoil, go háirithe giotár. Is brea liom teangacha a fhoghlaim. Tá Béarla agus Spáinnis agam agus tá mé ag foghlaim Fraincis, Ollainnis agus Gaeilge. Tá sé deacair ach is aoibhinn liom é! Is maith liom a bheith ag aclaíochta freisin; téim ag rith anois is arís. I mo am saor, is maith liom a bheith ag féachaint ar scannáin.

Omg, it's awesome to see someone learning and writing in Irish on here! I wanted to learn it a few years ago, but I got stuck looking for good materials. Do you have any recommendations?
@TG_KROENING174 Hey Tom, it is definitely difficult to find good quality Irish materials. I personally started out with Duolingo for vocabulary, but I found they actually have good grammar explanations on the desktop version. There is also a multi-level course on FutureLearn, which is available a few times a year. There is also a wonderful community at gaeltacht.net which is very welcoming to people of all levels and has weekly conversation sessions where you can practice the language, meet other learners, and get help from native and advanced speakers. A simple search can also help you find some good YouTube channels or Instagram accounts because that's probably more readily available now than it would have been a few years ago.
Hi @rhys_jasper, really well written! My Irish is a little rusty so take what I say with a grain of salt, but if I were talking I would say "Is maith liom éisteacht le ceoil" or "is maith liom féachaint/breathnú ar scannáin" - what you have is correct but I think for the most part "a bheith ag..." can probably be left out. Iontach ar fad! If you're looking for a short film as Gaeilge I always recommend Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqYtG9BNhfM
An mhaith! Tá mé ag foghlaim Gaeilge freisin! Tá áthas orm an Ghaeilge a fheiceáil anseo.
@brian thanks for the recommendation - I'll certainly go give that a watch! @thirteen go raibh maith agat, go n-éirí leat!
@TG_KROENING174 Hello Tom, you may want to check out readlang.com. This is a site that has short texts and also videos with synchronized transcripts. Included is some kind of translator that you can activate by clicking on words. You can also upload your own texts and apply the translation feature on those. The translation is not perfect, but I still find it very useful, because it is very convenient. You will still have to look up some words elsewhere, but not as many.
Deas bualadh leat, a Rhys! Tá mé ag foghlaim Gaeilge freisin. Is maith liom an teanga seo agus go háirithe scannáin agus chláir teilefís ar TG4 a fhéachaint. Is maith liom thar a bheith chláir faisneise. Aontaím leat faoi na ranganna le futurelearn agus gaeltacht.net. Bíonn comhráite níos áitiul liom ó am go ham ar Zoom leis na grúpaí as Springfield MA, Brattleboro VT agus Albany, NY. (Tá cónaí orm i nDeisceart Vermont. ) Is maith liom freisin grupaí ar Facebook le Gaeilge agus fuair mé suíomh ghréasain Gaeilge ar Discord le déanaí (Féach ar an físeán seo ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq27NAIV4Ew&ab_channel=YunitextheStreamer ) Arís deas bualadh libh anseo!
