Do you like ginger? I do! Every spring and fall, I enjoy making ginger syrup because we can get young ginger. Do you know that ginger may help protect us against Alzheimer's and dementia? Gingerol or shogaol in ginger work on these diseases. Fresh ginger contains more gingerol, while cooked ginger contains more shogaol. Both may help to remove certain proteins in our brains, reduce brain inflammation, and help our memory.
Last month, I made ginger syrup again. I wrote about my recipe here if you're curious. This time, I'd just like to share step-by-step photos of the process here.
I like drinking the syrup mixed with sparkling water on hot days, and I also enjoy adding it to yogurt. Both are tasty.
