A Flea Market in Osaka

Last month, during Silver Week, I went to a flea market with my daughter and her family. Before forgetting the details, I'd like to write about it today.

The market was held at Sitenno-ji on the 21st and 22nd of every month. It's the biggest flea market in Osaka.

When we went there, we saw many people. I thought it's getting more poplar among foreigners.

As soon as we entered the market, my grandson stopped because he found something he liked. My daughter told him that he might be able to find something better, but he really wanted to that yellow truck. So, I bought it for him.

We saw so many junk, and it was so much fun for me!

There were many food vendors as well.

I spotted a hight-quality, hand-painted bowl, which was Kutani ware.

Those broken pieces were good for kintsugi.

We kept walking around, and my grandson got tired and started getting fussy, so we took a ice cream break. The flavor was peculiar, and we tried to guess what ingredients it contained.

I love this wooden tableware shop. Last time I bought a pair of wooden spoons, and this time I bought two pairs of chopsticks. Next time, I'm planning on buying a pair of wooden bowls.

We spotted old Japanese coins.

This vintage camera shop stood out from the others because of its selection of cameras. Everybody stopped and took a look when they went by.

The hat shop was so cute, and I almost bought one. After all that, I didn't end up buying anything because I have so many my hand-knitted caps.

Seeing noh masks was creepy. They reminded me of my maternal grandparents' house. They used to hang several these noh masks on the wall.

According to the sign, they're hand grenades from the former Japanese army. The shop owner suggested to use them as a single-flower vase. It was my first time seeing real hand grenades.

The shop selling traditional Japanese hanging scrolls was very popular among foreign customers.

After enjoying exploring the flea market, we had lunch at one of my favorite Taiwanese restaurants. The main store is in Taipei, Taiwan.

Its specialty is xiaolongbao (soup dumpling), and every time I order it, I feel like I could eat as many as I wanted.

The noodle is called dandan noodles, which is also my favorite.

The yellow truck has become my grandson's favorite toy, and he takes it everywhere he goes.

These were the items I bought: four packages of pistachio, several Japanese citrus fruits, and tow pairs of chopsticks. My daughter bought a pair of glass cups, and she and I shared the pistachio and citrus fruits.

We had lots of fun together, and I'd love to go back again.
