Of course, now that I wanted to start writing here, my husband interrupts my thoughts and I will go in a completely different direction than I originally wanted.
I am actually trying to express my everyday thoughts in writing as well as trying to prepare myself for the C1 Cambridge exam. I want to actually go for B2 but my husband is pushing me to do C1. In his opinion if I fail to get C1 I will at least get a B2 certificate.
The problem is just getting started. I have all materials lying around but they've been collecting dust for two years now. The essay is scaring me away from actually doing anything at all. Because I will need to get feedback and nothing is more scary than getting feedback after using English in everyday life for over 15 years by now.
As a teacher, I should know that feedback is necessary to grow and learn from your mistakes. But it's easier to preach than to follow your own preaching. Is there an idiom for this in English? See, I should know that - or maybe I shouldn't.
In the future - for English at least - I'll try to pick those weird artificial topics for all the higher level language exams and hopefully, I'll get some feedback on what and how to improve. Maybe by next year, I'll finally get myself to sign up for the exam. Fight the inner chicken!
Good luck :))
@jpegiori Thank you. "It's not always easy to practice what you preach" That's what I was looking for.
@SEQ77 Thank you for the corrections. I really struggle with punctuation in English. It doesn't matter how often I look up the rules.
as someone who passed a certification last year I can maybe give tou some tips on how to improve your writing. To prepare for the Cambridge certification I had to write a certain part of an essay on which I couldn't choose the subject. this exercise made me practice writing about something that I maybe haven't thought of or adapting myself to a precise amount of time and number of words. good luck !
