My three-year-old grandson loves playing at cooking, so my husband and I made homemade pizza for him last time. You can read about it here.
This time we prepared homemade sushi for him. It was also a great way to use some cucumbers and Japanese basil from my garden.
Normally, white rice is used for sushi, but I cook rice with mixed grains because they contain more minerals and vitamins. So, our rice isn't white like regular sushi rice.
I prepared all the ingredients for our sushi party. When my grandson looked them, he seemed excited.
First, I showed him how to make sushi, and he immediately understood and started making his own. Watching it was very cute because every time he picked something, he said, "Shion wants this."
The sushi in the picture below was the very first one he made. It doesn't look very appetizing, but he loved it. He had so much fun both making and eating his own sushi. I hope it made his day.
