My Homegrown Vegetables

Growing summer vegetables has become my annual event, and I did it this year as well. Last year, I couldn't harvest as many vegetables as I hoped, and I learned about replant disease. To avoid it would happen again, I planted some different kinds of vegetables during the winter. I used them in hot pot dishes, and I was looking forward to this summer to plant summer vegetables again.

One day in May, I planted tomatoes, eggplants, okras, green peppers, and cucumbers. You can see the planting process in my previous post here. I also learned how to take care of them on YouTube. Whenever I saw extra shoots growing between the branches, I pinched them off. I bought better organic fertilizers and constantly fed the plants them. I made sure to keep watering them as well. I'm sure I've been taking much better care of them than last year.

This year, I've been harvesting far more vegetables than last year, and I don't need to buy those at a store. I've already shared some with my parents and my daughter's family. You can see my harvests in the pictures below. I can harvest fresh vegetables and fruit every single day. I definitely believe that hard work pays off!

I missed to harvest a cucumber once, and it became gigantic! It didn't look very appitizing, so ever since then, I've been paying much attention to find cucumbers.

I'm so happy with this year's harvest. I'm planning on planting garlic this winter to make fermented garlic. I feel I'm finally getting better at growing crops, and it makes me feel so happy.
