Koski looked at his wife when she wiped her eyes with the sleeve of her nightdress. Marika was right. He had been tied up with the investigation for almost a couple of weeks, and Marika had had to take responsibility for the children alone. That was surely tough, particularly when she experienced constant uncertainty about her work. That was why Koski was ashamed that he, nonetheless, felt annoyed with his wife. As if there had been an invisible threshold between them that he couldn't cross to help her. In addition, Marika's suspicion hurt him. There had been several occasions for cheating during the period of their marriage. A few times, finding himself in an unfamiliar bed had been a close call. But he hadn't cheated on his wife, and the suspicion pulled by this kind of temper felt unreasonable.
